KARACHI: Sindh government has embarked on its policy of
deciding the future of contract employees, placed on higher
grades; while a summary regarding empowering the ministerial
committee has also been forwarded to Sindh Chief Minister
Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
It is pertinent to mention that the Sindh government has decided
to terminate officials inducted on contract basis, and the
Sindh government has a summary to CM, so that the policy could
be reviewed, and recommendations passed well before the presentation
of list to the Supreme Court.
Sources have informed that a summary has recommended terminating
the posts of 97 contract officials from grade-16-grade-21.
Meanwhile, the Attorney general of Pakistan has summoned the
list of contract officials well before 10th Feb, so that it
could be presented before the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Sindh government had also formed a ministerial committee in
2009, under the chair of former Provincial agricultural minister
Syed Ali Nawaz Shah to review the aspect of contractual hiring
on case-to-case basis, and had also recommended ending the
contract hiring. However, these recommendations could not
be implemented due to the influence of contractual officers.
It is learnt that following the establishment of this committee,
all the contract officials, inducted against the merit and
on external pressure, have started their machinations against
the committee's recommendations. APP
