There is no room for complacency
in a newspaper, and more so in a financial one. It is primarily
for this reason, that a large number of readers know that
authenticity has been an article of faith for Financial Post.
Financial Post is an English
language business and finance daily. By virtue of superior
news coverage, investigative and analytical articles and a
reader friendly layout, Financial Post has captured a sizeable
share of the market and has become the premier business newspaper
of the country. Financial Post, having its base in Karachi,
commands readership throughout Pakistan.
Financial Post was launched
in May 1994, what started as a purely business related paper
has today diversified reporting into various other important
sectors and segments of our society, it has brought forth
many crucial issues such as unemployment and the jobless youth,
beggary and the street child, child prostitution, preservation
of heritage, buildings and structures and other related socio-economic
problems. Financial Post has taken on issues which others
have chosen to either bypass or avoid, within a proper framework
of research and expert analysis. We have chosen always to
adhere to a strict policy of professionalism and moral and
ethical standards of reporting. We have always upheld the
sanctity and the freedom of press. Financial Post today has
emerged by the grace of God as a leading newspaper based on
the hard work of its team of dedicated, energetic and responsible
workers. The existence of any organization is dependent upon
the level of performance and dedication of its people, the
human factor is what makes or breaks an organization, in particular
a newspaper's survival is based totally on the dedication
of its work force.
We at Financial Post realize
that as the complexity and dynamism of the present day economic
activity has made the task of financial reporting a very specialized
field, and the increased globalization rendered the task of
news selection a problem of over choice, but at the same time
we know that this global trade and finance is going to be
more complex in the years to come making the newspaper industry
even more competitive. While the coverage of the national,
economic and financial news has been our top priority, We
have made a considerable attempt not only to give proper coverage
to international events, but more importantly to see them
in their true global perspective.
The paper has been through
eleven years of economic activity--the changing policies of
the government, the rise and fall of capital markets, the
growing role of donors in the economic policies of the country,
the rigid conditionalities of the IMF, currency fluctuations
in South East Asia, the many budgets and mini budgets of governments
have all been an uphill task from the reporting as well as
coverage point of view. But this has all been made possible
by the sense of commitment with which the Financial Post team
has worked--in good and bad times.
