Is the writ of Sindh Government over?

FP Staff Report
Sunday May 13th 2007

Violent and provoking scenes were witnessed outside the High Court of Sindh. The MQM procession standing outside the gates of the high court were seen physically pushing and snatching mobiles from the lawyers wanting to enter the high court building for receiving the Chief Justice Ifthiqar Chaudary. The lawyers were pushed around and Justice Sabihuddin Chief Justice of high court issued notice to I.G police to allow them to enter. I.G appeared and expressed his inability to do anything as he said it was beyond his control.
A clean indication that the I.G police Sindh has no powers to do the needful, to be able to remove the rally misbehaving outside the court. This scribe has been in constant touch with the lawyer's gathered inside the high court, speaking to advocate Saalim Sadaam Ansari who is part of the reception committee of the C.J, he said we are waiting to receive the C.J but no one had any idea when the C.J would arrive, and as the day was progressing the situation is getting totally out of hand. The provincial interior Ministry advisor Waseem Akhtar appearing on T.V in a frenzy will not resolve the situation. His advise to the C.J to go back will not bring the situation under control. The politicizing by ruling parties has brought about an uncontrollable mob and riot like situation in the city. Only some semblance of sanity on all sides can calm a city which is burning.
