NADRA cancels 90,000 bogus CNICs

After installation of state of art Bio-Metric System, National Data Base and
Registration Authority (NADRA) has cancelled almost 90,000 computerized national
identity cards, which were issued double to one person.
NADRA has also terminated some 183 employees, which were found guilty in negligence
or corrupt practices.
The sources told Online that the special teams of NADRA during operation against
duel CNICs confiscated some 38000 cards through out the country, whereas remaining
52000 CNICs were cancelled by red circling the record. Most of the duel cards
were issued during the tenure of former President Pervez Musharraf.
The duel cardholders have been given a chance to deposit their one card along
with the fine of Rs10,000 voluntarily otherwise legal action would be taken
against them.
NADRA under the instructions of its Deputy Chairman Tariq Malik , registered
some 944 criminal cases against the duel cardholders in different police stations
of the country.--Online
